A broad category of people skills includes building and maintaining relationships, developing rapport, and using diplomacy. It is central to building teams with a strong foundation of trust and accountability and is one of the most important soft skills examples.

Developing emotional intelligence will make you a more valuable employee. It is easier to put together a development plan for areas where improvements could be made with the help of employee assessments. When planning for their development, people often focus on technical skills or competencies, but neglecting soft skills can make it difficult to succeed in future positions that require a high degree of emotional intelligence and social interaction.
